Aisha Bibi Mausoleum — the pearl of the Great Silk Road

18 km from Taraz stands one of the most elegant monuments of medieval architecture — the Aisha Bibi mausoleum.

Legend has it that it was built in honor of the great love of a young girl Aisha and the warrior Karakhan. Their story became a symbol of loyalty and pure feelings, and the mausoleum — a place of worship and blessing for lovers. Built in the 11th–12th centuries, the mausoleum amazes with its exquisite décor: more than 60 types of terracotta ornaments adorn its walls, turning every detail into a work of art.
