Secret Khudjra Rooms of the Karakhan-Baba Mausoleum

Inside the mausoleum, there are hujra (cell) rooms. It is believed that students and Sufis once stayed in these rooms to study and learn. The hujras are small and modest chambers. Their main purpose was to create conditions for solitude and meditation. The walls of each hujra were built with thick masonry, which kept them cool in summer and warm in winter. According to researchers, these rooms simultaneously served for religious education, the performance of dhikr, and the observance of hospitality traditions.
