A jug was donated to the museum

On February 19 of this year, staff of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Monuments of Ancient Taraz" visited the "Specialized School for Gifted Children with Trilingual Education" with a mobile exhibition. After the excursion for teachers and students, history teacher Kuralova Zhuldyz Kalikizi approached the museum staff: "I viewed with admiration every historical artifact found on the land of Taraz. The land of Taraz is steeped in history. I had not paid attention to such objects, and apparently that is why I did not understand the value of the ancient clay jug I have. Now I understand that this jug belongs in a museum — how would you feel if I donated it to you?" Of course, we gladly accepted the offer.

According to Zhuldyz Kalikizi, the jug was found in 2004 by her late brother Yelubai while fishing at Lake Bilikol in Bilikol village, Zhambyl district, Zhambyl region. He assembled the broken jug, restored it, and gifted it to his sister with the warm wish to "become a historian."

The jug was donated to our museum under the "Gift to the Museum" campaign, with the hope that future generations would learn about the history of our national culture through precious heritage of our ancestors. We expressed gratitude to the citizens who contribute to the development of our museum, respecting their country and history.

The jug is made of red clay, with a handle, covered with white engobe, and resembles a medieval jug found at the Ancient Taraz settlement during archaeological excavations.

The significance of national treasures and cultural heritage is immense in reviving multilayered history and providing patriotic education to the younger generation through valuable relics and artifacts. A museum is undoubtedly a sacred place that comprehensively studies and glorifies the spiritual identity of an entire nation and the chronicle of centuries.
