Historian Akdidar Zhanibekkizy of the "State Historical-Cultural Museum-Reserve 'Monuments of Ancient Taraz'" spoke on regional radio about the Abdikadyr Mosque. In an interview on "Asyl Kazyna," our colleague provided information about the construction history and distinctive features of this early 20th-century architectural monument.
The mosque is located in Taraz. It was built with the personal funds of a man named Abdikadyr. In the 1930s it was destroyed, with only the facade and minaret surviving. The monument was restored in 1975-80.
The Abdikadyr Mosque's design resembles Central Asian-style buildings. In 1990, the mosque's entrance door was restored, and the frames were decorated with carved ornaments. In 1992, a new madrasa was built next to it. The mosque is made of fired brick.
Overall, the Abdikadyr Mosque is among the most valuable monuments as a historical legacy. The interview also discussed the mosque's significant role in religious education throughout its century-long history.
