UNESCO representatives in Zhambyl region

Within the framework of the three-year project of the European Union and UNESCO "Silk Road Heritage Corridors in Afghanistan, Central Asia, and Iran — International Aspects of the European Year of Cultural Heritage," on March 4-5 of this year, Krista Pikkat, Director of the UNESCO Cluster Bureau in Almaty, and Gulmira Rymbayeva, Coordinator of the joint UNESCO and European Union Silk Road project, arrived on a two-day visit to Zhambyl region and visited the settlements of Balasagun (Aktobe), Kulan, and Ornek, included in the serial nomination "Silk Road: Chang an — Tian-Shan Route Network".

On the second day of the visit, the delegation reviewed the current state of the "Akyrtas" palace complex and the "Kostobe" settlement.
