Today, as a result of drilling work, the legendary wondrous complex has been provided with clean drinking water.

The “Akyrtass” historical complex is one of the ancient monuments on the sacred Kazakh land. Akyrtass is a grandiose construction site on par with the Egyptian pyramids, the Athenian Acropolis, the Roman Colosseum, and the mysterious heritage of the Maya culture in Peru. Since Akyrtass attracted public attention 140–150 years ago, considerable research has been conducted. Research that began during tsarist Russia continued during the Soviet period. After our country gained Independence, this work has been carried out with increasing intensity. Joint aerial photography with foreign scientists, particularly French and Italian ones, also revealed some secrets. Therefore, we are confident that a bright future lies ahead for Akyrtass. Undoubtedly, Akyrtass will continue to contribute to presenting the unique ancient culture of our country, rich in historical monuments, and its significant contribution to human civilization to the world. This complex is a unique, unparalleled site in Central Asia, and its amazing appearance continues to awe the public. The construction by our ancestors of a complex like Akyrtass from enormous stones demonstrates that our people, who knew how to find harmony with nature, yielded to no one in urban construction either. The ancient monuments under the care of the Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Monuments of Ancient Taraz” of the Ministry of Culture and Sports are undoubtedly values of significance not only for Kazakhstan and Central Asia but for all of human civilization. Unfortunately, from this once mighty, majestic structure — a priceless historical heritage, a pearl of Steppe engineers’ intellect — only foundations marked in dotted lines and blocks that sank into the earth under their own weight over centuries have survived. The current appearance of this unique complex, of which only remnants have reached our time, continues to arouse growing interest among passing travelers, those who specially come to admire it, and scientists who with each new study encounter unexpected discoveries and delve ever deeper into the secrets of the magical complex.
