Unique Artifacts of the Kangju Culture in Taraz
On May 15 of the current year, employees of the State Historical-Cultural Museum-Reserve "Monuments of Ancient Taraz" participated in a research expedition led by archaeologist Alexander Nikolaevich Podushkin — Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor at the Kh. A. Yasavi International Kazakh-Turkish University, specialist in Kangju culture and archaeologist of the museum-reserve, who discovered unique monuments of ancient writing. The expedition took place at the Tole bai tobe burial ground, Karaspan rural district, Ordabasy district, Turkestan region. Alexander Nikolaevich, who has been studying Kangju culture for over 40 years, presented unique artifacts belonging to the Kangju civilization during the expedition, including: a bronze mirror of a woman dating to the 2nd-1st centuries BC, fragments of beads, gold earrings with silver inserts decorated with bright red rubies. To date, the renowned Kazakh archaeologist has published 5 monographs based on research in the South Kazakhstan region.
Additionally, in 2023, the State Historical-Cultural Museum-Reserve "Monuments of Ancient Taraz" signed a Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation with the National Historical-Cultural Museum-Reserve "Ordabasy" aimed at developing the museum sphere. Under the Memorandum, employees of the two museum-reserves participated in a joint research expedition and shared their experience.
