Taraz – the Golden Pillar of Our History
Staff of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Monuments of Ancient Taraz" under the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan delivered a lecture on "Taraz — the Golden Pillar of Our History" for students of the Ecology Faculty of the Institute of Water Management, Ecology, and Construction of the M.Kh. Dulati Taraz Regional University. During the lecture, the history of the Ancient Taraz settlement was told — a sacred and revered place with over two thousand years of history connecting past and present, a city of eternity, a major spiritual center holding a special place in world civilization, as well as the history and legends of 30 historical and cultural sites under the museum-reserve. In connection with the 175th anniversary of Zhambyl Zhabayev, who sang "Zhambyl is my ordinary name, the People is my true name," the life of the poet and the history of the monument erected in his honor were also recounted.
