Specialists from our institution regularly meet with university students in Taraz and conduct lectures. Today such a session was held at the Sherkhan Murtaza International Taraz University. Historian Akdidar Zhanibekkizy of the "Scientific Activity and Monument Protection" department told first-year History students about 30 museum-reserve monuments, focusing in particular on the Zhambyl monument in the city center.
The lecture first covered the life and work of the centenarian poetry giant Zhambyl Zhabayev. Then the historian described the history of the monument's installation. This sculptural composition was installed in 1961. The poet is depicted in national clothing, with a dombra in his left hand, symbolizing music and poetry. The sculpture is cast from an iron alloy with copper and coated in bronze.
