Medieval Taraz
With great sorrow we received the news of the passing of outstanding archaeologist Taisia Nikolaevna Senigova, whose name is forever inscribed in the annals of Kazakh archaeological science. Taisia Nikolaevna devoted her professional career to research on the history and archaeology of Central Asia, and in particular, to ancient Taraz.
Her book "Medieval Taraz" is the result of archaeological research of the Taraz settlement, reconstructing its topography, defining the boundaries of its district, covering questions of political, socio-economic, and ethnic history of the population, and demonstrating the genetic continuity in the development of main pottery forms, testifying to the autochthonous nature of culture from the Saka-Wusun to the Kipchak-Kazakh period. She determined the chronological periods of ancient Taraz, and the book "Medieval Taraz" remains to this day the most valuable scientific source on the archaeological heritage of ancient Taraz.
