In the Future, Kulan Will Be Full of Tourists Like Turkestan!
At the initiative of the International Foundation of Turkic Culture and Heritage, museumification work will begin at the ancient Kulan settlement, located in the Turar Ryskulov district of Zhambyl region. This initiative aims to revive the historical appearance of the Kulan settlement, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and is one of the fundamental centers of Turkic civilization, and to give impetus to its international recognition.
To carry out initial research, specialists from the Center of Turkic Culture and Heritage and the Faculty of Architecture at the Kazakh Head Architectural and Construction Academy (International Educational Corporation) arrived in the region:
Bekeshov Sarsengali Sagyzbaiuly — Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the UNESCO Department
Zhumataev Saken Alzhakhanuly — Associate Professor of the Department of Residential and Public Building Architecture
Akunov Arystan — Assistant Professor of the Department of Architectural Design Fundamentals
Duisen Bauyrzhan — Doctoral student of the UNESCO Department.
During the project presentation, Acting Director of the museum-reserve Monuments of Ancient Taraz Nurzhan Mergenbaiuly met with the specialists, offered suggestions regarding the content and prospects of the project, and expressed full support.
Thanks to the work of specialists, this historical site will gain new life and broad recognition in the international scientific and tourism space. As a result, the Kulan settlement with its deep history will become one of the most visited tourist destinations in the country.
