Project "Interdisciplinary Study of the Kimak Cultural Complex of the Kazakh Altai" 25.11.2024

Research fellows of the A. Kh. Margulan Institute of Archaeology, A. K. Aitkali and Z. R. Karimbayeva, are conducting research within the framework of the project "Interdisciplinary Study of the Kimak Cultural Complex of the Kazakh Altai," funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In this regard, Ulbosyn Khamitkyzy, an employee of the "Fund Storage and Registration" department of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Monuments of Ancient Taraz," introduced the Institute's researchers to the medieval archaeological artifacts preserved in the museum's collections. Specifically, imported Chinese coins of the Tang Dynasty from the 7th century, coins of the Karakhanid Dynasty (10th-12th centuries), coins of the Turgesh Khaganate, as well as medieval buckles and patches were demonstrated. One of the project's goals is to study the archaeological artifacts of medieval states of the Eurasian steppe and to compile a database.
