02.09.2022
At the Akyrtass architectural and archaeological complex, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and part of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Monuments of Ancient Taraz” of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a brick water pipeline was discovered during archaeological excavations.
In medieval times, water was drawn from the mountains through these pipes, providing the city of Akyrtass with clean water. Craftsmen made the pipes volumetric and individually so they could be conveniently fitted together. Staff carried out restoration work on the pipeline, which had reached us in a damaged state.
